It wasn't too long ago that I wrote a blog update about how Gobo has still got it. I was there again tonight and it was equally good, reminding me why for a long time I called it my favorite restaurant in New York. Spinach and Soy Cheese Wontons, Scallion Pancakes, 5-spice Tofu Rolls, and Beijing-style Seitan...what could be bad? They never fell out of favor or anything, I think the quality was always the same, it's just that for
Gobo is an excellent restaurant for an evening out with a friend or date. From the reception area (standing in a beautiful kitchen/market) to the dinning room (warm, natural decor and candlelight) the experience is intimate and relaxing. Not to miss is the organic wine list and juice bar. A bonus for those on a gluten/wheat free diet is Gobo's gluten-free menu, be sure to ask the server the separate menu. A recommended dish is the oyster mushrooms with asparagus.
